Google Voice for Desktop, Instant Pages and Search by Images

    By in Google

A few days ago, there was an event held by the search engine giant Google, showcasing some new features that have been enrolled amongst us. The media event held in San Francisco, mainly focused on Google Search and it’s features that millions of people use every day. Google announced Voice Search for desktop, an all new Search by Image feature like Google Goggles for Desktop and Google Instant Pages.

All of the announced features are yet again going to make searching for things on Google even more simpler and faster. Grab some biscuits, relax and read about all the new features that Google announced.

    Voice Search for Desktop

If you’ve been using Google Android phones, which are quite popular these days, then you’ll be knowing that they already have this amazing search by voice feature. Google also did launch the Voice Search for it’s Chrome browser some time back, but that was only in the beta versions and for testing. Now though, Google has planned to launch it all across the internet and not only Chrome browser. This means that whenever you search for anything on Google, anywhere, you can use the microphone to get a voice search done instead of typing. I’ve tried the previous versions on Chrome and they have almost 80% worked for me and given me the right results. Video after the break.

Searching by typing will slowly become old school and a medium of the past soon, as newer technologies that involve better speech perception and recognition to make searches and translations faster and easier.

    Search by Images for Desktop

Remember Google Goggles? The amazing technology that was introduced in 2009 that could gather information from an image and tell you what it is. It wasn’t right all the time, but it worked pretty well. Until now, this feature was only available on mobile phones and not on the desktop. Google has now gone ahead and introduced this feature across the web for Google Image search. Now you can also find out what the weird looking picture on your wall is by just taking a picture of it and uploading it onto Google.

    Search by Image

So how do you get this done? Well, to begin with, you’ll have to wait for the feature to be available in your country. Once it is available, you’ll see a camera button when you use Google Image search or it’ll just ask you if you want to use a picture to begin the search. You can then easily drag the photo you want to search for on the web, from your computer or you can add an image URL from the web. You can try it now by visiting images.google.com. Video on Search by Images after the break.

Visit this website here to find out more about this feature and also download extensions for Chrome and Firefox to use the Right click feature. The right click feature searches for an image on the web when you right click an image. Also a very useful feature.

    Google Instant – Instant Pages

We all know how useful Google Instant has been for all of use since it’s launch. Whenever you gave Google just a few letters of what you were searching for, it would automatically preview the results even before you complete the search. Now it gets even better.

Instant Pages is the new feature for Google Instant search that helps you save even more time while searching by loading the top results of your search in the background. Confused? Okay, this is how it exactly works. When you search for a query, for example Apple iPhone 4, the most relevant pages will be shown in the beginning even before you finish typing iPhone. Usually, when this happens, the pages in the list aren’t loaded yet, hence when you click on them and they load and you lose your 3 seconds. Google Instant Pages loads those  top page links for you in the background when you’re still deciding what to click on. And when you click on the first link, BAMM!! It just loads right away.

If you want to try this today, you’ll have to download the developer version of Chrome or wait for a beta build, which will be released soon with Instant Pages. Go here for more information on the complete event and to watch the Google Inside Search Event.

Wow! I’m amazed with the Google voice for desktop. There are times when typing is just so tiresome and time-consuming for me and I have always wished I could just say a voice command for Google to start my search. And now it’s wish come true. Amazing new features. Thanks so much for sharing Siddie.

Nice article…Google Instant is one of the best methods to save loading time…
But it also uses your internet before you even click on the search results .
Can get into trouble if using a limited pack like 2 gb internet data plan per month..
