Google Looking To Target In Content Link Advertising

    by chakkravarthi

With Google planning to introduce more new ad units for its adsense partners, it looks like they got another surprise in store for its publishers or at least that’s what the patent which Google got approved recently tells us. Detailed information about the patent can be found in the link below.

Generating Google Search Links In To Contents

I know its kind of painful process to go through the patent filings from search engines. What the patent describes is simple its going to introduce a system that will let the bloggers and other adsense publishers to identify parts of their content and link some keywords in to Google search pages.

System Will Resemble Contextual Link Advertising

This system sort of resembles contextual advertising services provided by infolinks and other similar ad networks, but instead of driving the visitors to advertiser’s site Google will redirect it to a search page where the users will be exposed to ads along with organic search result for the particular term.

Publisher May Be Paid For Ad Clicks On Search Page

Will Google pay the site owner for each click that made their readers to get to search results or will it pay per click it receives on the ads exposed for those keywords on their search page is not known at this point.

Publishers Will Have Control Over Where They want Search Links

The process of embedding search links on your page will involve using tags supplied by adsense, where users can choose a part of their article where they want the embedded search links want to appear. Also adsense bots will crawl through the page to identify what the particular page talks about and introduce links to more relevant keywords in the content.

It is also highly likely that you will see a short description about the link or an information box appearing when you move the cursor over it. This feature is also something very similar to what you can find many contextual ad networks.

    Final Thoughts

I am not quite sure whether Google will introduce this feature to this publishers anytime soon, but its something that Google is highly likely to implement in the foreseeable future.

So I would like to hear your thoughts, what do you think about Google embedding search links in to your pages and posts? will you use it? if NO why not? Do you think this is a possible threat to all contextual advertising companies which are already using a similar system? let me know.

Yeah they better have to watch out. If Google is going to be in the game then their business is going to be in trouble for sure.

Believe it or not, but I’ve sent this suggestion to google, when they introduced the new interface.. :-)

Still, I’ll better rely on infolinks, until they pay good to me!

    hehe!

Well the patent was filed way back in 2005. I believe they had this idea really long back. :)

I am quite sure Google will pay you better than other ad networks.
