    Google Friend Connect: What is it?

    friendconnect logoGoogle friend connect is a social widget offered by Google which can be added on your blog. Your blog readers can join it using their Google ID or any other open ID provider.

    Recently I got an invitation from Google to try Google friend connect when it’s launched in beta. Friend Connect was launched as beta preview release in May.

    Friend Connect is a service for website/blog owners to engage users.

    google friend connect 3 261x300Users can login using there Google, Yahoo, AIM, or OpenID user names and passwords and its very useful for users to connect to many other people who share almost the same interest. Users can access there friend social data like friend lists, profile information, feed messages, ratings and the website they like.

    Friend Connect also provide other gadgets Wall Gadget, Review/Rate widget & many more to engage users in various activities within site.

    Update: After using Google friend connect for 6 months we decided to remove it as there is no practical use of this widget. Google should have thought of something to make Google friend connect more productive.
