Google AdSense Account Approval Process- 2024

255Shares

Update: I updated This article in August 2022 with the new AdSense account approval process.

It’s pointless to mention again that AdSense is one of the best contextual advertising networks. Until now, the AdSense approval process was simple: You create a new AdSense account, your account is reviewed, The AdSense team accepts your application, and you can implement ads on your site and start making money.

From now on, AdSense has changed the AdSense approval process and made this easy for new publishers.

Here is the new account AdSense approval process:

  1. Ensure your website is compatible with AdSense
  2. Sign up for an AdSense account
  3. Add the AdSense code on your website
  4. AdSense team review and approve/reject your website in 2-3 days
  5. AdSense team will ask you to verify your identity
  6. Add Payment information to get paid (Payment threshold is $100)

Once you add the code on your blog, that will show blank ads. Here is a video that shows how to create your first AdSense ad unit:

In a typical scenario, it would take 48 hours to review your application. Once your application is approved, it would start showing ads on your blog & you will start making money.

Here is the process for AdSense approval:

  • Register for an AdSense account by going to AdSense.com. Provide all the correct information about your Name, Address, and Website URL.
  • Login to your AdSense account, and create AdSense codes. Place the codes in your blog sidebar.
  • Ads will show as blank until the final approval process doesn’t finish. It may take up to 2 weeks for approval. Make sure you don’t remove the ads.
  • After the final AdSense approval, you will get a confirmation email.
  • Once your AdSense earning reaches $10, AdSense will mail you a PIN to your address.
  • Login to your AdSense account, and enter the Pin once you receive it.
  • Congrats you have completed all the steps. Once your account reaches $100, Google will send you or wire your earning. I recommend you to enable direct bank transfer for AdSense payments.

Though this will certainly help in domain ownership verification and moreover those who are signing up using someone else website, might find it tough to get into AdSense. If they still reject your account, it’s time to try out AdSense alternatives.

Have you signed up for AdSense recently? How was your experience with the new AdSense approval process?

    Thanks for the post!

Since last 2 weeks I myself was wondering. Why the HELL, I haven’t received any mail regarding whether they have accepted or declined my blog.

Then I stumbled to this post and came to knew that it has 2nd stage as well.

What is the actually criteria for the 2nd stage approval? I’ve got the Adsense code and have added on my recent 20 posts, so till when I can have the successful result?

Though some of our friends have a very terrible experience with Google. I have not faced any problem with google adsense. It was flawless. Thanks for your timely update .

I havent had much problems with google ad sense approval. Though, I think I am lucky to live in Canada. Hope some of you guys find a way to get approved more easily.

Fazal this new adsense policy is for world-wide. Though it’s a Fact that Indian bloggers adsense approval takes more time. Thanks for dropping by and for your comment.

No doubt, Adsense is the best in this category. And this decision of Google, is actually make life easier for legitimate publishers.
It is direct a demand-supply rule. Filtering spamy accounts will ultimately lower the number of publishers and definitely it will increase cost-per-click.

At last google made some required changes in adsense account approval procedures. This will somehow minimise the get adsense account for $10 scams for which India is sadly very famous. Due to those scams, legit Indian bloggers who really wants to earn some money and they deserve but Adsense team give them hard time, guyslike amit (first comment). Thanks for sharing info Harsh.

Similar to my country, Indonesia. There’re lots of scammers which spreaded out guarranties of adsense approval with, pretty much, around $30.. What a waste of money .

well, the lucky one’s who got there account before on adsense. It will be now impossible to get another adsense with same domain if get banned.

    Harsh,
I have recently applied 3 rd time for my blog and I too placed the certain statement on my blog which you have mentioned in this post, but unfortunately 🙁 Adsense was not approved my account.

the two step verification is useless. IF they want to verify the domain, they can by letting u place code or a html file. Now users who want to take part in adsense revenue sharing programs like SML will face difficulties.

    1. pritesh

      i agree with you.
google should use html verification at time register for new account.

wao its gud dat i signed up for adsense before only or else i had face this nightmare.

  12. Dhanu Hansda

Thanks for sharing Sir (Harsh).I am a newbie blogger.I have submitted my application for Adsense on 2 Sept,2011 and I was sure that I am not going to get Adsense approval.I knew because my application was rejected 2 times earlier also. But I was surprised that I got Adsense approval but as you have mentioned in this post may be it is not final approval.

As far as I know, the reason for the introducing this two step verification was that many webmasters abused the existing process. Many add their approved adsense code on sites that would never pass the verification process in the first place. What this effectively means now is Google would monitor the sites on which you add your code and if they happen to be of low quality, there is a good chance of adsense account being banned.
I have seen scraper sites and sites that have nothing but ads on them. So, in a way Google is ensuring a fair deal to advertisers and genuine publishers. 🙂

spams are spread all over the internet and even google is facing this issue. Some strict policy is required to reduce spams.

People started business for adsense account .. get in 5$ and all they will find it tough to do so . But this process will take more time then usual

Hi Harsh, I’ve been using Adsense for years so it sounds like this won’t effect me personally but I have to wonder if this isn’t the beginning of a more widespread review process. Any sign of Google reviewing sites designed primarily for AdSense, i.e AdSense sites?

  17. sureshpeters

Now on only people who has good blogs and websites can get adsense account. I see people applying accounts using another websites . The second step of verification will be a plus point.

  18. Sudeep Acharya

Seems like it will help them to filter spam registration……

  19. Irfan

Seems like they were getting lots of spam account. 😛

Somewhat they have applied a same concept of BSA?

    1. Harsh Agrawal

Irfan, I guess you are right. Though I’m not sure but it might stop “Get approved adsense account for $10” and such promotion. As now publisher needs to verify the domain ownership by adding ad codes. Else earlier using a domain Email address for example [email protected], one can easily apply and get an approved adsense account.

  20. Amit

It was really a horrible experience for me when I signed up for Adsense ,I asked three times for Pin number but never came back to me lastly after three attempts they were not able to deliver ,I am in Delhi where everything works fine like courier service ,postal but they were not able to deliver the PIN number in three months (I doubt ,I think they did not want to ) ,At last ,I sent my passport scanned copy ,So they approved it.I think when we work online we have other lots of options not only Adsense which is becoming tougher these days a lot. Also ,I heard that when you start earning good money with them they put restrictions on your account ,So that you can’t earn much ,We must try other alternatives also..Now they made tougher than previous ,I think now It will take 6 months before you get your first check …may be more than that 🙂

    1. Harsh Agrawal

Amit though your comment was off-topic from the main topic of the post but I do understand the pain and hassle you faced due to this issue. Specially with receiving Adsense Pin, many bloggers have shown their concern and reported that it’s not delivered at first time. The only thing which I miss from Google is adding telephonic or Email support for publishers. This will atleast take care of such issues which can be handled with a single reply, but for now there is no way to get a quick response from adsense team.
Despite of alternatives, I would still recommend to use Adsense as your main contextual ad program as it pays higher than almost all other similar ad platform.

    2. Shobhit

Similar issues were with me for receiving a PIN, later on i have to send them a scanned copy of my bank passbook and my “account on hold” message was removed.
Plus after a whole month i finally received the PIN, and at that time it was of no use except for the fact that i had got mail right from America 😉 !!!

    3. Jasmine

Seems like Adsense is getting more and more difficult to get approved. Lucky that I had my Adsense approved long time ago when it was still comparatively easier. I had quite a bit of money from Adsense since then. 🙂
