Google introduced video chat in Gmail sometime back, which is one of the revolutionary feature which Gmail added sometime back. Here is great news for people who are fond of using Gmail chat. Google has started offering free file transfer feature to Gtalk users. Any user can send any file freely using Google free file transfer feature.
Gmail chat is browser-based chat which you use when you are using Google talk inside your Gmail.
According to official announcement today :
Starting today, you can share photos, documents, and other files while chatting in iGoogle and orkut. To give it a try, just click Send a file… in the Actions menu while chatting with a friend (no download required)

For users using Google talk desktop version even they will be able to use this feature and this is something I believe most of IM lovers have been waiting for. Personally when I shifted from Yahoo messenger to Google talk, file transfer is something which I always missed. Though according to Google this feature is live now but I don’t see it inside my Gmail chat.
Do let me know your views on this new feature from Google team? Do you see this new feature in your Gmail chat?

Now, it will be very easy to send important files quickly directly from the Gmail inbox!
That’s true Arijit and I’m loving it. Earlier I used to use Gmail drive to send file quickly via Gmail.
Great now I have an alternate to MSN for file transfers to my online friends
Wow! what a great news! I always missed this feature in gtalk. yesterday only, i advised one of my student to shift to skypee chat as we were needed to exchange 3-6 file to solve out a problem in tally. Now we don’t need to use skypee. Thanks harsh for sharing it on the time
I know and this happened with me very often. Lately I started using Dropbox for the same. But this new feature will be very useful as most of internet users are using Gmail. Thanks for your comment Rana.
GTalk is already having this.
I couldnt find anything similar to this in my gmail but checked that it is enable din orkut.. once have a look..
Rajesh Even I’m waiting to see this inside my Gmail account. I believe they have rolled this feature out for many, and it’s still in the process.
I am not able to seen this in Gmail but I can see in orkut.
Same with me Chandra, I will suggest wait for sometime and you will have it inside your Gmail box..
This feature is available in iGoogle Chat and in Orkut Chat. This is yet to come in Gmail Chat. But really a good thought. In fact I’d like to see the Google Chat option across all Google products. If user wants to chat from a particular product (like, currently ‘m surfing picasa) then it removes the burden of opening another tab to start gmail/orkut/iGoogle or starting GTalk.
