For iPhone and other smartphone users, here’s some great news. One of the most anticipated services from google viz. push Gmail, is finally out. And we only have Microsoft and Google to thank for this.
While the iphone mail app could do a lot more than just fetch email, until last week it could only pull messages from the Gmail server. Starting this sunday, Google has added push Gmail to its already existing Google Sync service. What we now get is Gmail messages pushed directly to our iPhone, iPod Touch or a Windows Mobile smartphone.
For those of you who have never heard of this technology before, push email is an over the air always on connection that pushes your email from your inbox to your mobile as soon as it arrives. Yes in realtime, so you no more have to check for new mails again.
So head over to http://m.google.com/sync and select your device for detailed instructions for setting up your device. You have to push it to believe it!

anyone tried this yet. while this works perfectly for me im also facing faster battery drainage than other services, say compared to mobileme push services.
