Finally gmail ahs rolled out its awaited SMS service which was almost there before but not the way like now , it become official with official Gmailblog announed the release of SMS text message for chat.
Though the only sad news is that this service is for U.S. number only but we can expect support for other countries soon.
Google tried to keep this service as simple as it is possible , just type the mobile no in the search box above chat and an option to send sms will pop up automatically where you can send sms and then add that number in your contact list.
To make people not to misuse this service google has introduce “Block” and “Stop” keyword for the reciever , where you can simply reply back with keyword ” Block” if you don’t want to chat from your mobile phone or you can reply with keyword “STOP” to stop recieving message from a perticular user.
How to enable SMS service?
Go to your gmail settings and go to Google labs under Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat click on enable and click on save.
Now you are ready to use brand new Gmail sms service.
