Gmail add Extra layer of Security For Paypal and EBay

The most common hacking method which is used by hacker is phishing. Forging the same webpage as real page and send it to user via email or IM. We have already discussed about this in our previous post on Orkut Account hacking using fake page.

Gmail understand that most targeted websites are EBay and paypal for now. Though bank and credit card companies are also targeted websites for fake page methods.

Gmail introduced a new feature in their Gmail lab and that is Authentication icon for verifies senders. According to official Gmail blog :

“Super-trustworthy” is a technical term I just invented that means:

1. the sender, usually a financial institution, is a target of phishers,
2. all of the sender’s email is authenticated with DKIM, and
3. Gmail rejects any fake messages that claim to come from this sender, but actually don’t.

You can enable this feature under your Gmail lab settings.

Though right now Gmail Authentication icon for verified senders only supports EBay and paypal. Though we can expect more websites in the list soon.
