Dropbox is free online storage web service.  This very instant there are at least a thousand guys taking online backup of their documents, for the reasons :

DropBox Online Storage

DropBox Online Storage

  1. Online backups are more reliable than DVDs or external  Hard-disks.
  2. Online backups can be accessed at anyplace anytime given you have internet access.
  3. The files can be used by multiple users without the need to manually transfer data.

Just imagine the entire process were automated. You create and edit some file, and as soon as you save it, an online backup is created. No uploads, no ftp commands. Just do what you already do, minus the need to manually take online backup, plus edit some document simultaneously with as many persons as you wish! And that is something which already exists!

2 GB FREE basic online space + 250MB for using referral link to join dropbox + 250 MB for all referrals that join and install dropbox + 250 MB to use all features!

Dropbox is offering free space of 5 GB. Another alternate service which you can use is Skydrive.

Skydrive offer 25 Gb of free space

  • Create a dropbox account.
  • Install Dropbox on your computer.
  • Put files in your Dropbox folder. Whenever you edit the files, the online copy is auto-synced!
  • Install Dropbox on other computers you use.
  • Share a folder with friends or colleagues.

You can view and edit the same file at the same time on different computers!
That’s all you need to do!

I highly recommend people to use Dropbox. It’s 5 GB free space and you can reach your files from a browser. Personally I also use it for automatic backup.

It’s 2GB without referral link use. If you are referred (go through a link) you get +256 MB
For each referral you get 256 MB.
For using all features of dropbox you again get +256 MB.
In this manner you get a maximum bonus space of 3GB.
So, you can get upto 5GB free space with some easy steps!

Dropbox is a great service and the best of all, it’s all automated. So you don’t have to remember/schedule when you need to backup

DropBox is very useful. I share files with my friends and just drop them into their folders. No sending of emails.

The Public link is also great. No uploading to rapidshare!
