Facebook Launches New Feature: Embedding in Comments

    by Vinayak Nagri

After so many Google news, this time it is Facebook. Google+ is turning to be a bigger threat than anybody even expected, of course including Facebook. These days, Facebook is getting thrashed by Google+ in the GIFs you are most likely to be seen in your Google+ Stream. Facebook is certainly feeling the threat and that’s why Facebook is upgrading and adding features to it.

Facebook recently added the video chat. Then they upgraded their chat feature and launched the new chat design. Now, another new feature has been added which is “embedding in comments”. The feature was launched yesterday and it was integrated in all the profiles almost immediately.

The new feature was officially announced on Facebook’s fan page when Facebook said this –

Today we are launching a commenting feature that allows you to embed videos, photos, or web sites in comments just by including a URL. Your comment will include a video player, a thumbnail of a photo, or a brief overview of the web site being linked to. If you prefer your comment without the preview, you can remove the preview with one click.

This new feature till now, has received a lot of appreciation from the Facebook users. Facebook is really trying to get back in form and beat the threat of Google+ before it really rises more. This feature would certainly be a help to Facebook to regain its little loss popularity in the last few weeks. All in all, this feature is very good and of course, useful for bloggers because if they want to suggest somebody their blog link in the comments. The embedding would let them know what the blog is about. Not only bloggers, the embedding of videos and photos(by link) would save time for the people who want to view them.

In my opinion, this feature is great and I guess, it was required. Embedding URLs, videos and photos in the comments makes sharing and communicating easier.

What do you think about this feature? Do you think this feature would let Facebook gain more popularity? Do comment.
