    Facebook Launched New Commenting System

    By in Facebook

    Bluehost hosting

Some time back I informed you that Facebook is launching it’s commenting system and today Facebook made it’s new commenting system live. In an official post on their dev. blog, Facebook team announced the launch of new Facebook commenting system.

Though this launch seems to be a pre-mature launch as this commenting system was suppose to launch along with option to login with 3rd party sites like Google, Twitter. But for now only option is Facebook and Yahoo. The good thing is you don’t need to login or authenticate to comment on sites which are powered by Facebook new commenting system.

For developer, you can grab the codes from official page to integrate new Facebook commenting system on your webpage or WordPress blog.

Though Facebook commenting system has many flaws at this moment but one advantage is you can comment using your Facebook page ID. (Remember new Facebook page). Facebook commenting system is using social relevance to show comments. For example, if you land on a blog with Facebook commenting system enabled, you will see comments in order of, comments from friends, friends of friends, most liked comment and so on.

I’m looking forward for a fully fledge WordPress plugin which will seamlessly integrate this new Facebook commenting system to our blog, but I believe we need to wait for a couple of days for such plugin.

What do you think about new Facebook commenting system? Do you think it’s going to be more popular than existing DISQUS and other third party commenting system?

Looks good but now it has it’s own pros and cons.. Will have to wait for a while before this new commenting system matures completely.

I wouldn’t install this on my blog until someone develops a plug-in to make it easier and also an auto-sync to the WordPress’ database (just in case if I’ve ever decided not to use it anymore!)

I agree with you Michael.. This is one big thing which will be required if we think of integrating this new commenting system. Dependency on 3rd party site is more like losing the power of self hosted blog.

Yeah, completely agree. At least with DISQUS, it creates a “duplicate” on the core WordPress database system

Thank you for the update but I wasn’t very impressed with Facebook’s comment system when I started my blog so I used Disqus and I’ve been very happy with the choice.

Jay Disqus is nice choice, specially when you wish to give multiple option to login and comment. Despite of good reviews and feedback..I prefer using WordPress commenting system.I Like to keep it simple!! :)

I think Facebook commenting system is great and since Facebook has such a huge user base, I am sure it will be more popular than Disqus in the near future.

Jasmine one big blow for FB commenting system is integration with third party login. Seems like Google pulled itself out of it and we not going to see Google login option and same goes with Twitter. This might hamper Fb commenting system to become top commenting system…

I’ve never been a fan of DISQUS but I see some massive leverage with this plugin due to the magnitude of its user base and that the form itself is owned by Facebook and the connection does’t require giving credentials to anything dangerous.

I’m looking forward to using the plugin as well, but I also agree that I will need to wait for a proper Wordpress plugin as integrating it into Thesis is not fun…
