Sometime back we informed you about official Facebook URL shortener fb.me and it’s been officially mentioned by fb.me slows down the internet by Techcrunch.
Giving a little idea about background of fb.me, it’s a URL shortener started by Facebook. You can easily replace the first string ( facebook.com) with ( fb.me ). For an example if you are using custom name for your facebook Fan pages or profile page, instead of giving long URL, you can give fb.me/yourfbpagename .
Seems like Facebook people has taken it by heart and fb.me seems to be down for long. Many people started using fb.me to shorten their Facebook profile URL, for example if I have to share Shoutmeloud Fan page URL, I will share it using Facebook URL shortener and it will become http://fb.me/shoutmeloud and now this page is giving URL not found error.

I tried it and it is not working either. I have never used this url shortening service anyways :p
I have not noticed, could it be a glitch? I don’t use fb.me but more of bit.ly & su.pr. Bit.ly is handy, not to mention it is favored by many Twitter clients as a default url-shortener. Thanks for notifying about this news. Will keep an eye on fb.me progress.

Ching even I don’t use fb.me ..Most of the time I use it to share my Facebook profile, Fan pages and so on..
I hope it’s temporary down or may be they extending it with new features.
Have you heard anything about when fb.me will be back up or how long it is anticipated it will be down? I know this facebook we are talking about and they work on their own time table but was hoping you might have heard something…
still broken. can’t seem to find any word why. seems pretty stupid they’d just turn something like this off after a year.
