bbPress 1.0 Released with lots of new functionalities

bbPress bbPress is plain, simple, fast, open source, secure forum software. It’s easy to use, install, integrate with wordpress and easy to administrate. After many months in alpha and release candidate status, bbPress 1.0 final is now available for download.

bbPress 1.0 is named Bechet (pronounced beh-shay) after the pioneering jazz saxophonist Sidney Bechet. This version has a similar administration interface like WordPress, and the best part is that it can be fully integrated with WordPress!

bbPress Icons Here are a few of the improvements in the 1.0 series:

Voices count on topics reports the number of individuals participating in a conversation
Cookie integration with Wordpress 2.7 and 2.8, that means a user has to sign in on bbPress or WordPress and will be signed in on another automatically. (only when you have integrated WordPress with bbPress)
Memcached object caching
A complete XML-RPC publishing API
Pingback support “ each topic can receive pingbacks, just like a blog post!
All javascript has been moved to jQuery
Optionally allow login via email address, as well as username
Display names used primarily for user identification display, which allows special characters to be used
Themes can now have a functions.php file, which is automatically loaded
Accessibility improvements on forms and in the default theme, including WAI-ARIA roles
It has a similar administration interface like WordPress
Improved use of posts admin to manage spam

I was the 24^th person to download the 1.0 release, and now it has been downloaded around a 1000 times. Though, many plugins do not work with 1.0, but do with 0.9. I may also handle the bbPress installations, upgrade, integration with WordPress for you (you can contact me here).
