Is your blog getting high traffic. Are you getting thousands of spammers on your wordpress blog ?
You might be wondering after so many blogs on Akismet & other antispam plugins why I am writing this blog ?
Reason is to make webmasters aware that these spammers not only throng your blog for spamming, but also eat up your server’s bandwidth & increase your CPU cycles.
Moreover if you keep track of how many visitors your site has, either by using Google’s Analytics, WP-Stats or any other one, it will give you a cleaner statistic of visits your site receives.
This plugin works blocks spammers before any content is served. It shows following message when your blog is not made available by the plugin.
How AVH First Defense Against Spam blocks your IP :?
The plugin checks the visiting IP in the following order, only if that feature is enabled of course.
- Whitelist
- Blackilist
- IP Caching -
- 3rd Parties
Spammers can be blocked based on the information supplied by the third-party or by using a local blacklist.
Usually this plugin works by getting the list of spammer IP’s from Stop forum Spam and Project honey pot database.
Few Cool Features :
- Ability to add single IP’s and/or IP ranges to the blacklist and whitelist.
- When an IP is blocked a message can be displayed to the visitor with the reason why access was blocked.
- Report a spammer to Stop Forum Spam. A valid API key from Stop Forum.
- IP caching system.
Moreover if you already have WP-Spamfree and Akismet installed , still it works fine . I have installed it on my WordPress blog 3.0 before the lamers, Spammers pounce on me !!!

This pluugin has cool features but Disqus comment System has also same blacklist, whitelist and other functionalities.
Shashank, Most probably you have forgotten to link the plugin download page. I had to take help of Google to download this plugin.
Anyway, I hope it will be useful for my blog. I have three block listed IP from where I got hundreds of spam comments. I hope I can now block them using this plugin.
