Apple iPhone OS 3.1 is official now. The latest OS 3.1 is available free for Users with iPhone and iPod users with 3.0. For others you need to pay the cost of 4.95$ for 3.1 Upgrade.
The new OS is bundled with Genius Recommendation for the Apple App store. This means, Genius media-recommendation algorithm will scan your installed application and will make recommendation based on that.
The new iPhone OS 3.1 also includes lots of features related to iTunes 9. You can also organize your iPhone menu using iTunes 9.
An Enhanced security feature is also added to new iPhone OS 3.1 in terms of remotely locking your iPhone.
Though for users with Cracked iPhone , I will suggest wait for a while before you upgrade your iPhone to latest release.

i updated my apple os last time and was not able to unlock it.

Their is a rumour iPhone OS 3.1.1will be released by 25th of this month..so maybe jailbreak will be delayed by that time…
