This is one of the most talked topics in the forums and bloggers who are using AdSense to monetize their blog. Till now very few publishers were aware of the percentage of revenue AdSense share with the publishers. Today in an official announcement AdSense team revealed the exact detail on percentage of revenue they give to publishers.
Here I have summarized the announcement so that you would know the revenue sharing between AdSense & you for different ad types.
AdSense for content:
AdSense for content is most widely used advertisement inventory from adsense. One of the major reason is it’s contextual advertisement, which helps in getting better CTR. AdSense revealed they pay 68% of revenue to their publishers and rest 32% they keep to maintain and development of new technology. This 68% seems to be fair to me.
Adsense for Search:
For people using Ads\Sense for search, Google AdSense pays you 51% of rev share. This seems low to me, but I would love to know your thoughts on the same.
Other AdSense Unit:
For other ad units like AdSense for feeds, AdSense for mobile and AdSense for games, Google added they are not going to disclose the rev share for this, as they’re quickly evolving, and we’re still learning about the costs associated with supporting them. Revenue shares for these products can vary from product to product since our costs in building and maintaining these products can vary significantly
Why AdSense revealed it’s revenue share?
Sharing this vital information will help publishers to build more trust in Google adsense. For me, it seems like growing influence of other ad networks made Google revealed their AdSense revenue share, as they also added
“Additionally, when considering different monetization options, we encourage you to focus on the total revenue generated from your site, rather than just revenue share, which can be misleading. For example, you would receive $68 with AdSense for content for $100 worth of advertising that appeared on your site. If another ad network offers an 80% revenue share, but is only able to collect $50 from ads served on your site, you would earn $40. In this case, a higher revenue share wouldn’t make up for the lower revenue yield of the other ad network.”
I will love to know your reaction on 68% rev share from Google adsense. Do you think 68% share is decent or it should be more?
Google Adsense is the best way to earn money online. However Google’s business is successful with it as the company gets 32% income for just working as a mediator between publisher and advertiser.

Just checked mine and yes shows 68% which seems fair as others have said. I do wonder though if some of the larger publishers have managed to negotiate an even higher figure?
68% share for publishers is far better than other ad networks that might be offering higher revenue sharing. Google is very strict at its TOS and most reliable in my opinion.
68% is more than 2/3rds which is fair for contextual advertising. The 51% for search is more than fair. All we do is put a little search box – they do everything else to run search. Absent the search box 70% of the readers are headed to Google anyway to search so what value is the webmaster really bringing to the table?
Yes you’re right. 68% seems good, as google the more our websites get click also effects our page rank and also ppc is higher in adsense compared to other ad networks and google is available in almost every country.
No i dont agree with many of people here. 68% is not a descent amount that a developer deserves for sharing its valuable web property with google. I would have loved if amount was 75%.
No doubt 68 % is decent share, some ad networks providing only 60 %.

Thanks for posting this. I have wondered what the payout was for sometime now. I think 68% is pretty fair considering Google does all the hard work of getting the advertisers and serving the ads up quickly for publishers. There’s a lot of other stuff Google does behind the scenes too.
Also, it’s great that getting a Google adsense account for new blogs like mine is pretty easy to do.
To be honest, google deserves way more than just 49% in search ads. While you contribute <10% to the overall search process, Google should rather be charging us for providing such an excellent search engine! For Adsense for content, 68% is definitely fair, considering the size of ad inventory, technology and speed of loading of the ads. They are way better than any ad network presently, considering the customer base they are serving. Customer Support is definitely a major area they need to work on. Live chat seems like the most helpful support feature of any online service to me. They could atleast have a ticket-submission and quick redressal interface

If google pay 68% to us then why our CTR is very low, even I get sometime $0.01 for some clicks.

For both you. You will get 0.01$ means Indian 5rs when you are getting long tail traffic which don’t have any advertisers.
If some keyword like samsung mobile has advertisers you will get 68% of the advertisers willing to pay.
But in case you are getting traffic from “samsung old mobile phones from india in delhi” if it dont have any advertisers. Then you will get 0.01$.
$0.01 is 0.45INR.
It is 50paisa not rs5.
And I believe that your assumption on the short and long keywords dragging traffic is WRONG. There’s more on that.
68% is a fair share. Though Google is best monetization option, yet it has to evolve a lot when it comes to efficiency. For e.g it has no direct customer support. Address verification using PIN sounds medieval. I am still waiting for my PIN while my AdSense a/c is on hold. Read my story here:

This is big news. Because all MMO and IM misleading peoples that google is paying only part of its earning. Means less then 50%. I think 68% is decent enough.
Yes, I think 68% is fair enough, because if you also get a high CPC in Adsense.
32% commission is seems high to me in content ads, whereas Google deserves 49% in search as it is providing you search facility and indexing your site.
