There are so many people who add friends like there's no tomorrow. They just love having "friends" -- whether they actually know them or not is irrelevant. I try to keep my social networking pages clean with real people who I know. The only exception is my Twitter account, which I plan on using for Sponsored Tweets.

Engaging and building community among people that share your same interest is important in social sites but its not really the quantity that matters but the quanlity of the people.
The quanlity are the ones that are actually listening to what you have to say, they key to social sites is based on the value of your interactions, the strength of your relationships, and the nature of your reputation.
