The Best Free Twitter Unfollow Tools to Unfollow Non-Followers

675Shares

Twitter is a great marketing and promotional tool for blogging, but only if it is used effectively.

When I started using Twitter nine years ago, I knew nothing about the marketing benefits of Twitter. I was tweeting like an amateur, and following users without a second thought. Over time, as I came to understand the hassle of social media noise, I began to de-clutter my social media accounts.

First, I became particular about the accounts that I would follow on Twitter. I started unfollowing users who were inactive or who did not add any value to my Twitter timeline.

I also unfollowed many followers who were not following me back.

I still frequently clean up my Twitter profile. And when I do, I start by unfollowing non-followers.

Today I will be sharing a list of tools that you can use to find those Twitter profiles that you are following, but are not following you back. If you plan to unfollow them, start by answering these questions:

  • Do you enjoy reading their tweets?
  • Do you personally know this particular Twitter user?

If your answer to either question is yes, then keep following those users.

But if you answer no to both, unfollow them!

5 Free Twitter unfollow tools for unfollowing users who do not follow you:

1. Circleboom

  • Save

Circleboom is a Twitter management tool that helps you to find the right profiles to be followed with its smart-yet-easy-to-use search module.

If you need to unfollow some of your friends, you can use unfollow module on Circleboom. It provides a handful of filters to help you to unfollow the ones not following you back, fake accounts, spammers, eggheads, or inactive accounts very fast and effective in comparison to its rivals.

Circleboom covers all the features that others have but with more affordable prices almost half of the closest rival’s price.  One of the differentiating features of Circleboom is RSS Tweets which enables you to connect your website/blog RSS feed to your Twitter account.

With its mobile-compatible, responsive design, Circleboom makes follow/unfollow tasks fun on the go.

2. CrowdFire

CrowdFire, formerly known as “JustUnfollow”, is one of the best free tool for Twitter to unfollow non-followers. You can sort the non-followers on a variety of factors including date of follow (so those old followers who never followed you back can get the boot). Every day you get to unfollow or follow 25 people for free using CrowdFire.

If you want to increase that daily limit, you can always upgrade to a paid subscription. CrowdFire also offers fully-functional iOS and Android apps, and it is probably the best Twitter management tool I have used on my Smartphone.

(Also check out the SocialOomph Twitter service which is free and a really great Twitter tool.)

3. Twitter Mass Unfollow (Chrome extension)

This is a free Chrome extension that will let you mass unfollow people you are following or only the people who are not following you. The extension also lets you whitelist accounts so that you don’t unfollow them.

I really like this addon, but the only problem is that it is too fast. It auto-stops after every minute to not violate Twitter automation rules, but I suggest you pause every 10-20 seconds to ensure your profile remains in good standing.

After installing this extension, head over to

https://twitter.com/following and click on extension icon, and select unfollow option to start unfollowing users.

4. iUnfollow

iUnfollow is an interesting tool that let you unfollow those who are not following you back. This tool lets you log in using your Twitter Id, and shows you the profile of all users whom you can unfollow directly from the app.

5. ManageFlitter

ManageFlitter is a favorite Twitter tool for unfollowing non-followers. The new beta version lets you select multiple Twitter accounts and with one click you can unfollow them.

There are many other features such as the ability to find fake Twitter followers and the most talkative Twitter followers!  This tool will also let you effectively manage your Twitter account in general. Overall, ManageFlitter is one (free) tool that you will love.

6. Tweepi Geeky Flush

For unfollowing your non-followers, you can use Geeky Flush. As the name suggests, this tool “flushes” the Twitter followers who do not follow you back.

Tweepi is a simple tool, and you can sort through the list and unfollow them one by one. Tweepi is not as fast as ManageFlitter, but it is very visually appealing.

It’s a good idea to use one of these Twitter unfollow tools once in a while to keep your Twitter interface clean. Just be sure not to unfollow the Twitter accounts of blogs and companies, as they hardly ever follow anyone back!

I know of a great tool that will do exactly what you need. It’s called tweetadder. It’s not free. It’s around $40 but well worth it. U can manage 5 accounts. It allows u to mass follow/unfollow pple based on the criteria u provide. For example, if you’d like to connect with people tweeting about “green apples”, you just type in the key word “green apples” and it will find everyone tweeting that and chose to follow. You can also decide to follow followers who are following a particular person or follow people someone is following (if that makes sense). It’s been an amazing tool for business purposes and I love, love, love it! Has allowed me to grow my following from 100 to 6,000 🙂

Tweepi is great Harsh. I have been using it for sometime now. It also provided many other features like following the followers/friends of a certain individual. The pro version has extra features. I am really happy with this tool.

I was following many people who used to post unwanted things in which I am not interested at all and few were inactive since a long time. I used twitter karma and followerfilter to get rid of such persons

I’ve been using a bulk twitter unfollow tool from the last week, but I’m worried that if it gets my account suspended. Is it harmful for my account ?

I use http://followerfilter.com/ for Searching User- Tweet RT and Favorite listing and deletion – Unfollower finding an deletion. Even the site is new, it works well!

Site also allows you to see any twitter user’s (included yours) unfollowers, followers and followings without login.

Of course it’s free and unlimited!

  12. Orval

I would like to thank you for the information. I am new at Twitter and I didn’t know all these tools existed. You have given me insight on who to follow and nofollow.

  13. Martina

I have now tried the http://unfollow.2et.in app and it’s totally unreliable.
I’ve only noticed after deleting about 200 people that some of them were actually following me, and it was suggesting they were not! I subsequently did a random check and 50% of the suggested unfollowers were actually followers!

I’m really annoyed as I’ve now unfollowed many, MANY true followers 🙁

  14. Rajib Kumar

ManageFlitter is also good tool for unfollow. Thanks for share.

Untwitted does not seem to work. I know there are several people who I follow but don’t follow me back. It says differently.

  16. Heather

I paid to be a premium user for the just unfollow tool. Totally worth the $4 something it cost me. Got rid of a bunch of deadbeats in no time flat.

  17. Leonard Sappleton

Absolutely thrilling information. I was just wondering why my twitter lists of followers keeps going up and down I seemed to have waited an eternity to go past 1000. I then went up to 1227 and now its showing 1085. In this way I’ll never move forward rapidly-Whats wrong?

    1. Dennis O'Brien

It’s also about quality connections. I personally believe the magic number to begin a recruitment campaign is around 2.5 – 3K followers. At 1% per day that’s 25 – 30 who will look at your opportunity (not just click on it and leave). Of those maybe 1 0r 2 will elect to go further.

Of 3000 followers I might filter out 1500 on the way to that figure so I don’t see their tweets. But 3000 would look impressive to anyone looking to see how many I have. So far I have 900 using automated software. Oh and on that subject TweetAdder released Version 3 this week. I prefer the older program but I will get used to it.

      Happy Tweeting everybody.

FriendFollow.com is an other option. We can flush all non-followers at a time

  19. Dean Saliba

Great I’ve been looking for a tool to clear out the people who I follow but don’t follow me. I’ve got a fair few hundred so was not relishing the prospect of having ot do it manually. 🙂
