5 Features of Random.org That You Should Use

Random.org is a site which helps in generating randomness between lists, numbers and a lot more. People use Random.org for holding drawings, lotteries and sweepstakes, to drive games and gambling sites, for scientific applications and for art and music. This site offers a lot of randomizing features such as Coin Flipper, List Randomizer etc. In this post I will share 5 features from this site which you should definitely use.

This feature is one of the most widely used feature of Random.org. It is used a lot for the results of the giveaways that happen at different blogs. Let me tell you how this function is used. This feature allows you to arrange the items of a list in random order. The list can contain names, numbers etc. A maximum of 10,000 items are allowed. This feature can be found under Lists and Strings and Maps, Oh My! section. Here is a little demo of this feature.

2. Coin Flipper

This feature is just a fun feature(in my opinion), let me tell you how did I first used this feature. Me and my cousin were fighting for using the internet, he said that let’s do a coin toss, we didn’t had a coin nearby and no one wanted to leave the computer and get the coin, so I opened Random.org and used the Coin Flipper to decide that who will use the internet and… I lost. The option of Coin Flipper can be found in the Games and Gambling section. You can select which coin to flip from a lot of choices so that makes this feature more better. Here are the screenshots of using Coin Flipper.

This feature is very useful for setting random passwords. If you will use those random passwords in your Gmail, Facebook or other accounts, it will definitely secure your accounts more. You can generate 100(maximum) passwords at once and even select the number of characters your password should be. The minimum characters is 6 and maximum is 24. Here is the screenshot of using this tool.

You can use it in a lot of ways you want. It is the most easy to use feature of the website. See the below screenshot where I have used this feature.

I like using random.org to choose the winner for my contests 🙂

  2. eTipsLibrary

I never used the random.org . I was of the view that it might only use to get the winner randomly from a list of names etc, Thanks for telling the other uses. I will try to create strong password through it.

Random.org may look a little simple, but it can also be really useful sometimes. Your article has listed some of the methods we can use it for. Good one!

I was not knowing about these things out there. I only thought the site only gives you random number 😛

Random.org is a useful site these days, considering the contests on blogs & websites. But they should improve their layout. It seems like they haven’t got a redesign from years.

P.S. Why are you compressing the images to such an extent. The quality is not the same. Try saving it in PNG-8

I agree with you, Mani, in this argument – despite of amazing features; just because of a un-likeable layout I feel like I might need some alternative to random.org. 😐

    Well explained Vinayak. . .
    I have never tried Random.org

As I have never released any contest or giveaways at my blog, I never used Random.org. But I am going to use it very soon. 🙂

    Thanks
