Whenever we start any new website, one of the most important factors involved in the process is the selection of a domain name. There are many domain name suggestions generator tools available in the market, and in today’s post, I have compiled a list of some of the more highly recommended of these tools, which will help you to find domain names based on your keywords or name ideas.

One approach which I always suggest is to go for a branded or keyword-rich domain name, depending on your new site’s business model. If you are creating a micro-niche site, it’s always a good idea to shoot for a name that has your keyword in it. If you’re looking for long term engagement, I would suggest that you go for a branded name like ShoutMeLoud, Labnol, Lifehacker, and so on. Branded names such as these are very useful in the long run and create a significant impact. In particular, a name that is easy to remember will always be helpful. Try not to use a name that is hard to spell or type.

List of domain name suggestions generator tools:

I recently posted an article on the domain name suggestion tool Domainsbot. (Thanks to Google, I was able to get my hands on four domain name search tools.) Domain name suggestion tools come in very handy when you’re searching for some quality domain names based on keywords, (especially when you get an offer from some domain registrar to buy a domain for $1 using their special offer).

Before you use any of the following tools, I highly recommend that you read the following tutorial:

So let’s start with a handy list of sites that will help you to find the best domain name for your new site.

Note:  Some common features all these sites offer:

  • You can buy a domain directly from any of the services
  • Domain available or sold
  • Some of them find listings from the used domain marketplace

1. DomainsBot

DomainsBot is a simple domain suggestion tool that also uses your keyword to give you some nice domain suggestions. What I like about this site is that when you search for a niche-based keyword, it also finds the domain listings from SEDO and Godaddy along with prices. This can be helpful in choosing the best keyword-rich domain name for your new site.  It really is a perfect keyword domain name generator tool.

2. NameMesh

NameMesh is a popular free domain name generator tool. The beauty is, that here you can also search for domain name availability for a new domain name extension. You can define how much should be the maximum character of your domain name & if you would like to check availability for other domain name extensions as well.

3. Shopify business name generator tool

Shopify is the most popular website for launching your e-commerce website. They also have a business name generator tool that will help you to come up with a meaningful domain name for your business. The only limitation is, that it searches only for .com domain name. However, the result is pretty accurate.

4. Domain suggest tool

This tool allows you to search for domain names with the extensions .com, .cc, .TV, .net. By default, the adult name suggestion is off, though you can turn it on. This would not be a good idea, however, as many firewalls block access to sites based on keywords in domain name.

5. BustAName

BustAName is my second favorite domain search tool after Domainsbot. It makes your mind mapping so easy, with lots of suggestions and words.  You can add multiple keywords, and it jumbles them to see if there are any available domain names. You can quickly add a prefix or suffix which also makes it easier to find your desired domain name.

6. Panabee

I like the visual aspect of this tool as you can quickly add your word( one or two) & it will start suggesting names. You can search for domain name availability in all the domain extension which is an important feature in today’s date.

It also lets you search for name availability on the social media platforms.

I hope this list of domain suggestion tools will be very helpful for you as you work to find the best domain name for your next venture.

Do let us know if you use other similar tools that you have found helpful for finding quality available domain names.

Great tools and a great article!

For those who need a mobile app, there is a domain name generator / availability checker for Android phones and tablets. It’s called Domain Shaker (yes you can shake the phone for some domains 🙂 and it’s part of the free Domain Gadgets app I recently published. It’s still a bit basic but it’s evolving and very simple & quick to use.

    Hey guys,

Great article — there are some tools in this list like Name Tumbler that I had not seen before, and this is quite literally my business. 🙂

I recently launched a domain name search tool that ya’ll might also like. It’s called Lean Domain Search and you can find it at http://www.leandomainsearch.com. It helps you find great domain names by pairing your search term with 2,500 other keywords commonly found in domain names and instantly showing you which are still available.

Would love to hear your thoughts on how it compares to these other tools.

I strongly Believe that it is up to us which type of information or services we provide through our domain name, Depending upon that we can make any name a brand name. History is full with such example.

I have tried nametumbler before, its okay if you are really dead for ideas. I still think that coming up with one yourself is the best option. For example, I am extremely happy with my domain name and I was surprised to find it available when I tried on the domain availability tool of my domain name registrar.
